At approximately 5:31 PM on Friday, April 21, 1967 a F4 class tornado ripped through Hometown on its way from roughly Joliet to Lake Michigan. It first touched down at the present-day campus of Moraine Valley Community College and grew in size hitting Palos Hills, Chicago Ridge, Oak Lawn, Hometown, Evergreen Park and Chicago. The most severe damage was in Oak Lawn and Hometown where it reached its maximum intensity. Photos of Hometown below. Click on the photo with blue border for larger image.
